The strongest connection to my family at home that I can get here in Greece, is not to write them a message via social media or see a video mail, but to take my pen and write them a letter. Because I really like the old school handwritten post-cards and letters, as they are so much more personal and express much better the feelings you have for those dear ones to whom you address them."1422717_10200361132190593_1379813034_n"

To receive a real letter written with the pen and the ink by a human hand that gives the letters uniqueness, is more special, than receiving one of thousand e-mails, which do not make anymore a precise separation between work and private information…"Greek

Anyway, today while I was trying to write a postcard with old German handwriting letters, I wondered if the change of letters was as dramatically in Greek, as in German. What I found out is, a thesis that says that mostly the phonetic changed, but letters were quite stable. The Greek letters are used since the 9th century BC. They originate from the Phoenician letters. Latin, Cyrillic and Coptic Alphabet descends from the Greek alphabet which today comprises 24 letters.

It is funny how nowadays, looking at the key-boards of the computer, we do not realize the fact that letters are our connection with the past. Their development back then helped people to transmit information and knowledge over the centuries, and even today without them information on the Internet would be impossible to get…So whenever you have time, take a sheet of paper and a pen and write some words to a special person…maybe in special minuscule Greek letters 
