\"Lefkada<\/a>\u00a0The <\/b><\/span><\/span>festival, which was happening this year between the 18<\/b><\/span>th<\/b><\/span><\/sup> and 25<\/b><\/span>th<\/b><\/span><\/sup> of August was all about the tradition of bringing cultures from all over the world together.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The parade starts with the beat of a drum, then people can hear the first groups of dancers coming. Tap-dancers stepping trough the <\/span><\/span>Agora \u2013 Street of Lefkada. Applause, people everywhere, joy and happiness of sharing hundred years old traditional dances from all over the world. <\/span><\/span>Women dancing with ewers on their head. Children carrying signs of the countri<\/span><\/span>es; Signs of an event that is so unique and special that it has been repeated for 51 years. The Folklore Festival takes place on our small Ionian Island once per year. It is an intercultural exchange of friendsh<\/span><\/span>ip and mutual understanding, as well as it represents the traditions and dances of each participatory country. The participants are from all over the world. We have been grateful to welcome dancers from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Paraguay, China, as well as many guests from Europe. The Festival also supports understanding between generations, as every local takes part to this traditional week. To dance on this level, the 8 groups from Lefkada prepared themselves<\/span><\/span> for w<\/span><\/span>eeks in a variety of dancing rehearsals. It was impressive to watch the \u039f\u03a1\u0395\u03a6\u0395\u0391\u03a3 \u2013 group on their final performance on<\/span><\/span> Frid<\/span><\/span>ay. As to make a variety for the audience they did <\/span><\/span>no<\/span><\/span>t only prepare Lefkadian Folklore, but also songs and dances from Crete.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
